Background and Aim: Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) is a deadly virus of zoonotic potential. The study mainly aims to determine the risk pathways (RPs) for the probable incursion of HPAI virus (HPAIV) in backyard poultry in Bangladesh. Materials and Methods: The study involves expert elicitation technique. Influenza vaccine is not widely used in Bangladesh. Whether the lack of previous exposure to influenza vaccine, use of a different vaccine formulation than had been used previously, or both, affected influenza A(H1N1) efficacy in our Bangladesh population differently from that in the same period in the USA is unclear. Human infection with avian influenza A(H9N2) virus was identified in Bangladesh in 2011.
